The Associate Advisor is a practicing professional who acts both as an advocate of members’ financial wellness and as a support to the Financial Advisor Team in relationship management. This Advisor will service and advise members utilizing our investment advisory and financial planning programs, and will assist Financial Advisors in the process of creating, implementing, and reviewing financial plans and strategies in the best interest of the member.

Essential Functions: • Engage client relationships both in-person and over-the-phone • Communicate foundational financial planning principles as well as investment strategy recommendations to members • Identify and address client financial needs • Monitor and review clients’ accounts regularly to determine whether life events, economic changes, or financial performance indicate a need for reassessment • Perform in a team environment in which responsibilities for servicing client accounts and planning for clients’ needs are shared • Deliver a world-class customer service experience • Analyze data obtained to determine strategies for meeting clients’ financial objectives • Complete all continuing education, firm element, and compliance requirements in a timely manner • Serve as technological expert on digital investing program for credit union members • Achieve regular and consistent results that exceed minimum standards while adhering to high standards of honesty, fairness, and integrity • Identify members’ financial planning needs and partner with other advisors to deliver financial planning strategies • Attend client meetings with Financial Advisors as required • Support the Financial Advisor(s) in research and analysis to meet member needs and objectives • Support the Financial Advisor(s) in preparing member financial plans and documents • Prepare financial analyses for clients including, but not limited to, portfolio analysis, retirement analysis, social security analysis, education-funding analysis, stock options analysis, and risk-management needs analysis • Update the firm’s customer relationship management (CRM) system with every client interaction • Accepts and performs other duties as assigned Other • This description reflects management’s assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned. • This job description is subject to change at any time.
Required Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field • 3+ years’ of experience in the financial services industry with face-to-face client contact • Clean U-4/U-5 • Active FINRA SIE, Series 7 and Series 66 licenses, Life/Health Insurance and Variable Products licenses and Long Term Care certification are all required to perform the duties of this position. Considerations will be provided for candidates who hold some, but not all of these licenses with the expectation that all must be successfully obtained within 6 months of on-boarding. • CFP® designation or completed Masters or Doctorate Degree in Finance, Financial Planning or Behavioral Finance and be eligible to sit for the CFP® exam. Candidates that do not currently hold the CFP®, but meet the education requirements, must successfully complete the exam within 6 months of on-boarding. • The ideal candidate possesses the following skills and abilities: o Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all work produced o Excellent inter-personal, verbal and written communication skills o Ability to work cooperatively in a team as well as independently o Ability to identify, research and resolve problems in a timely manner o Ability to prioritize, manage and complete requests from multiple sources o Strong organizational and time management skills o Familiarity with financial statements o Strong analytical skills o Strong computer skills – proficient in MS Office and Morningstar o Compiling/analyzing operational and financial information/projections o Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment o Applies knowledge of credit union systems, policies, and procedures o Complies with all Credit Union policies and procedures including those related to Bank Secrecy Act regulations.
Preferred Qualifications: • Master’s in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field. • AIF® designation is preferred and is required within one-year of on-boarding.
