The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) is seeking a Senior Director, Finance to provide leadership to the organization through management and planning that promote excellence in finance and accounting. Reporting to the Executive Vice President, the Senior Director actively supports the vision, values, mission, and goals of APIC and staff core values of ownership, unity, and commitment.
Major Responsibilities include:
Provide leadership by acting as a strategic business partner to the senior leadership team; lead the Finance and Accounting department and implement policies, procedures, and processes.
Assess and evaluate financial performance of the organization on long-term operational goals, budgets, and forecasts.
Create and establish yearly financial objectives that align with the organization’s plan for growth and expansion.
Communicate, engage, and interact with EVP, CEO, the senior leadership team and attend board of director meetings.
Lead the development of the monthly operating budget, annual operating budget, and three-year outlook in partnership with senior leadership team to maximize resources and deliver on organizational goals; review and analyze monthly financial results and provide recommendations.
Identify, develop, and execute analysis of business initiatives, program and product launches, and/or new service offerings.
Oversee service finance areas and relationships to ensure quality services and efficiencies through standard operating procedures.
Manage cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability; oversee cash, investments, and asset management.
Explore new investment opportunities and provide recommendations on potential returns and risks.
Lead audit firm selection process; oversee external auditors, manage preparation process, and provide support to accounting staff and Audit Committee.
Oversee the Accounting department to ensure proper functioning of all systems, policies, procedures, and organizational readiness.
Oversee the timely and accurate preparation and communication of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; promote constant review of procedures and quality improvement to eliminate inefficiencies.
Oversee and audit the preparation and delivery of bi-weekly payroll.
Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all local, state, and federal tax returns.
Develop and exercise organization disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Qualified candidates will offer a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance plus a minimum of five years of experience as a Director or Senior Director of Finance in a $10 million or more corporation and a minimum of ten years total of accounting or finance experience. MBA is preferred. APIC is seeking a candidate with outstanding knowledge and understanding of GAAP, IFRS, SOX compliance, and insurance standards, legal requirements, and federal grants. Direct experience with both traditional and cloud-based accounting systems, iMIS, ADP, and Anybill or similar platforms and demonstrated knowledge of not-for-profit business and financial management is required.
