Our Sr. Accountant will be report directly to the COO and be responsible for maintaining all aspects of the accounting system, which can fluctuate as our family dives into new ventures. This is your chance to take the next step in your accounting career as a trusted advisor to our COO and Managing Director.
We are looking for an individual with 6-9 years experience in accounting, Experience working with multiple entities at the same time is essential. The position will report to our Chief Operating Officer with direct interaction to the Managing Partner and Foundation Manager. We have a number of entities under our umbrella, so experience allocating cost across various operations is essential.
Specific Job Duties include:
Maintain all accounting required in each entity; works with outside accounting firm to ensure conformity to expectations
Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
Prepare and analyze monthly and year end account reconciliations as well as audit work papers.
Assist with analyzing financial statements on a monthly basis and report on variances.
Manage accounts payables and ensures timely payment of approved transactions
Records general ledger entries for multiple entities
Oversee grants and funding as indicated by organizational commitments
Establishes and maintains record and document retention for office
Manage corporate credit card; assist in managing user accounts and balances, collect and verify expenditures and backup, reconcile activity and record monthly journals in general ledger.
Record and maintain fixed assets and assist in audits
Manage petty cash; Provide cash advances and expense reimbursements.
Perform timely internal compliance audits for Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Treasury and other finance related activities as directed.
Prepares key indicators and reports organization's finances to management
Responsible for bi-weekly payroll and management of employee data
Oversee the benefit plans and employee use of each program
Qualified candidates must hold a CPA designation. You should exhibit a high level of compassion for others and enjoy working with those in non-traditional and non-profit environments to align with our goals. Your communication skills must allow you to work across all levels of the community in a way that is articulate and thoughtful. Given the small size of our office, team members will be asked to help in a variety of ways that might be outside the normal scope of their position.
We anticipate candidates will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and a variety of accounting industry experiences. Intermediate level skills on word and excel are essential, some experience with power point is a plus. Ideally, a CPA is required.
Must be able to work in Highland Park office during regular business hours. Our office is convenient to the Highland Park Metra station.
