• Assist Controller in oversight of the activities of the accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and management reports. • Responsible for assigned Balance Sheet accounts, including but not limited to, account reconciliations, valuation of assets, and significant expense accruals. • Maintains systems and controls that are consistent with the MMA Controllership Playbook which ensures the integrity of all systems, processes and data • Responds to MMA/MMC Controllership group on all Revenue Recognition issues and testing • Responsible for proper revenue recognition • Responsible for maintaining accurate records of commissions due sales staff • Assists with the production of the annual budget and forecasts, as needed. • Responds to internal and external auditor requests in timely and complete manner. • Roll out corporate initiatives and maintain a solid internal control environment at the direction of the Controller. • Assists Controller with gathering data for annual tax filings. • Assists Controller in preparing annual Premium Finance Returns. • Provides accounting support and services to all divisions and affiliates, in a timely and courteous fashion. • Responds to Real Estate Team, Operations, and Senior Leadership on all Lease accounting issues at the direction of the Controller • Analyzes financial statement variances and questions as requested. • Oversees maintenance of complete, accurate and up to date fixed asset records and recording of accurate and timely depreciation charges to general ledgers. • Provides leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; creates and promotes a positive and supportive work environment
• Must have a working knowledge of various accounting software packages such as QuickBooks. • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with specific ability to effectively interpret and explain accounting comparison/analysis results in a manner which those outside of the department will be able to comprehend. • Functional responsibilities require thorough knowledge of associated systems and demonstrated ability to understand Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and best practices. • High level of organization and the ability to set and recognize priorities required. • Applied knowledge and skills in the areas of communication, accounting principles, typing/word processing and interpersonal relations. • 3 or more years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Certified Public Accountant, (CPA) preferred
• Bachelor Degree with a concentration in Accounting or related field required. Graduate degree or MBA preferred.
