COMPANY DESCRIPTION: Our client manages over one billion dollars in client assets primarily in the Philadelphia area but they have clients in many other states. Our client recognizes the significant impact that a fund’s expenses have on its performance. Because of this, they limit their focus to funds that are “no-load” and have low operating costs and management fees. Our client’s solution is a powerful process that combines a proprietary quantitative screen with intensive fund research and in-person manager interviews. Through this combination of intensive quantitative analysis of historical returns and face-to-face interviews with managers’ key decision-makers, our client selects outstanding funds to include in its portfolios. Our client’s clients are high net worth individuals and not-for-profit institutions with substantial investible assets; the minimum account size is $1 million.
Account types include personal investment accounts, retirement funds and plans, trusts, partnerships and other business entities and institutional endowments.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Our clients Advisors help guide individual and institutional clients in both the analysis of their initial asset allocation decision and the re-evaluation of that decision should circumstances change. Clients receive a monthly market value statement and a quarterly performance report. The Investment Advisor role is primarily a client-facing role, responsible for directly handling relationships with a significant number of our client’s clients, both individuals and institutions. This will entail:
• Personal meetings on at least an annual basis, and more with certain clients, at their site or in our client’s offices.
• Phone calls, both proactive and reactive, with clients.
• Discussions and presentations will be about market conditions, risk parameters, performance, and general investment guidance and financial planning. (Note- Our client does not provide full Financial Planning solutions but is open to expansion in this area depending on candidate skill set)
• IA will ensure that clients feel they are well-serviced, understand our client’s long-term, risk-managed, economical and thoughtful approach to asset management; they must feel “listened to”.
• IA’s goal is to retain and grow the existing asset base, and stay in front of any client changes that might impact the relationship: personal situations; business or professional changes; impact on risk tolerance; competition.
There is another component to the role that is somewhat unique to the role, in that the IA will monitor certain clients’ accounts on a regular and ongoing basis. This will allow the IA to truly know what is in the account, and why, and will help the IA be perceived more as an Investment Professional than simply a sales person.
With that said, our client will welcome the IA’s input on marketing materials, power points, anything that assists in educating and attracting new clients or additional assets from existing clients.
BACKGROUND DESCRIPTION: Our client is seeking a high-integrity professional with an impeccable reputation in the Philadelphia community, currently in a client-facing sales or service role with a company that provides investment management solutions. Must have the presence and bandwidth to deal at a professional level with HNW clients and institutions. Person could hail from a variety of backgrounds: a competing RIA; a Trustco; a Bank/Brokerage platform; or a direct to HNW Asset Manager.
Ideal candidate will have significant, meaningful experience in Investment Advisory post-college in the industry, with a good track record (minimal movement, no job-hoppers) and excellent people skills and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Because of the academic grounding behind our client’s investment solution, our client favors candidates with solid academic credentials, including advanced degrees (Master’s level). Either CFA or CFP designation required although advance degree (MBA or equivalent) may be an acceptable substitute.
