About the Opportunity

The Corporate Accounting Department has an immediate opening for an Intermediate or Senior Accountant (based on experience). This individual will have the responsibility for working with a team focused on preparing and monitoring monthly accruals, monitoring high-risk accounts, preparing the quarterly working trial balance, coordinating the year-end closing process to include working with business areas to monitor year-end activities and preparing the financial statements. This individual must be organized, detail-oriented with great analytical skills, and possess the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders across the Bank and the Federal Reserve System, as well as the ability to consult on and positively influence system policy/process opportunities. The Accountant will ensure that activities performed within the department and Bank are completed in compliance with Federal Reserve Bank policies and procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). You will report to the Financial Accounting Manager.

What You Will Do:

  • Prepare, review, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports.
  • Complete a variety of routine and complex accounting functions ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) standards, Federal Reserve policies, and best practices.
  • Perform standard monthly accrual journal entries and reporting, and/or ad-hoc project assignments which require planning, research and analysis.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with internal controls and procedures.
  • Provide guidance and direction to staff on accounting issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience at the Senior level
  • Minimum of 5 years working with GAAP at the Senior level
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • CPA preferred at the Senior level


Knowledge/Skills:

  • Broad knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply Financial Accounting Manual (FAM) guidelines and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability appropriate for subjects and issues of moderate complexity
  • Keen attention to detail with a high degree of data accuracy and integrity
  • Strong oral and written communication, ability to interact on required information and concepts with people at all levels of the organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with people at all levels of the organization
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint along with various other software applications as needed for the role
  • Ability to informally guide the work of other team members, provide accurate training and guidance on financial compliance and use of accounting/financial tools
  • Perform general accounting activities including the preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial statements
  • Perform moderate to highly complex control functions, verify data, reports, and contracts to ensure compliance with applicable legal standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as well as organizational policies, assists testing of automated accounting/finance systems, participates in SOX/COSO testing
  • Provide moderately complex guidance and support to other departments experiencing accounting and control issues
  • Participate in daily project-based assignments and cross-functional workgroups, as applicable, partners with other departments and Districts as appropriate to ensure shared transactions/processes are executed accurately and timely, communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure transactional integrity and issue resolution

  • Job title (Intermediate or Senior Accountant) and salary offered will be based on the job responsibilities and the individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience as defined in the job qualifications/experience.
    • The hiring range for the Accountant, Intermediate is $59,600 - $81,950, annually.
    • The hiring range for the Accountant, Senior is $73,800 - $101,420, annually.
