Roanoke College is seeking an enthusiastic, hands-on team player to fill the position of Senior Accountant in its fast-paced, high-volume business office. Major responsibilities of this position include supervision of accounts payable function, oversight of the college credit card program, capital leasing, reconciliations of gift and other accounts, and grant accounting. Also participates in annual audit work and other general ledger duties as required. Reports to the Comptroller.
The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field of study; a minimum of 5+ years fund accounting and supervisory experience is preferred, or any combination of experience, education, and training which would provide the level of knowledge, skill and ability required. Must have demonstrated proficiency in computer operations and applications. Must be well-organized, accurate and customer service oriented.
Additional Salary Information: While there is room for growth and advancement within the department, the starting salary range for the position is $42,000 to $48,000 depending on experience. In addition to this basic compensation, the College makes an employer contribution of 8% of base salary to the 403B plan on the employee’s behalf after one year of employment. A full complement of insurance plans (premiums shared by the College and employee) and paid leave time are provided. Tuition remission and tuition exchange (i.e., free tuition at Roanoke College or a participating exchange college) is available for the employee and immediate family members following one year of employment.
