The Accountant III performs professional accounting duties supporting MUHA's monthly and fiscal year-end financial reporting and the annual external audit; general ledger accounting specific to ongoing account reviews, analyses and reconciliations; monitors and interprets accounting literature and guidance to ensure that MUHA’s accounting policies and treatments are in compliance with GAAP, GASB and applicable state and federal regulations; performs pension, investment and lease accounting and other duties that require the analysis of complex accounting, audit and financial reporting issues; regularly interacts with organization wide finance personnel; and performs a variety of other duties in support of departmental operations.
A bachelor’s degree in accounting or business and four (4) years work experience in accounting and/or auditing. Strong analytical, research, communication and teamwork skills, ability to meet deadlines, a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and Outlook software; Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat software is a plus. A bachelor's degree in accounting with hospital/healthcare based work experience; MBA, MHA, CHFP or CPA designation a plus.
