Reports to: Director of Finance and Administration
Manage all aspects of the budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis functions of the Society. Plan, organize, and direct all accounting activities for all managed organizations, including the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, coordinating the audit and preparation of tax filings.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Budgeting and Forecasting
Lead the development of the annual operating and capital budgets.
Develop financial models and templates to enhance consistency in budgeting methodology across all departments, Councils and other areas of activity.
Prepare pro-forma analyses of ongoing and proposed business models and opportunities.
Develop methodologies to monitor and evaluate corporate financial performance against operating plans and budgets. Work with key staff to interpret significant variations from the budget and prepare related reports.
Prepare/adjust monthly forecasts to track actual/anticipated financial operating results.
Monitor processes and events that may impact cash flow; recommend actions to management as appropriate.
Accounting for Managed Organizations
Oversee all accounting activity for reasonableness, and ascertain that all activity has been coded and booked in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, as well as policies, procedures, and Chart of Accounts.
Oversee month- and year-end closing processes, as well as financial statement preparation.
Oversee monthly reconciliation of all accounts to determine accuracy and assure balance sheet integrity.
Manage all aspects of yearly audits and tax filings.
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash application activities. Maintain centralized control over all invoices and collection efforts.
Design (or update) and implement new financial processes, procedures, audit trails, and reports.
Provide oversight of payroll administration.
Manage the administration functions of the Society’s Retirement Plan.
Manage all accounting and budget activities related to the TVT Registry.
Assist with STS audits and tax filings.
Comply with the permitted and required uses and disclosures of Protected Health Information, in relation to STS’s Plan Sponsor function.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in accounting is required. Attainment of MBA or CPA preferred.
Five years related work experience in budget development and general accounting, including financial statement reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
Essential Skills and Abilities
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Proficiency with budget planning software (e.g., Adaptive Insights)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Solomon
Familiarity with payroll software
Excellent organizational, planning, and follow-through capabilities; attention to detail is essential
Ability to multi-task and manage several projects simultaneously
Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, volunteer leaders, other organizations, and industry contacts; tact, diplomacy, and good judgment are essential
